Kemp Was Here!!! : This is a collection of photos taken on Sunday, October 12th, 2008. A few hundred friends and family members got together to celebrate the life of our dear friend, Kemp Mandeville. Kemp was such a friend to our family, as he was to so many. He prided himself on being a member of the 'Mom Clique'..always there dropping off or picking up his kids and a few others, sharing the gossip with the Moms, and he decided they were, the "hottest chics in town". And at the top of that list of "hot maoms" was Nancy...his rock. Kemp was like a child, in the best of ways. When he would call, he would grunt, growl, oink or bahhhhh at you, and that meant he really liked you. He usually had an inappropriate remark to make, and a smile. Trust me, I am not canonizing him. We sparred on a regular basis, and he REALLY could get under my skin. And he loved that! More than anything, when I think of Kemp, I think of The Little Prince. The character created by Antoine de St. Exupery. Kemp didn't have an asteroid, he had a little fifedom: Sherman. He had the Sherman School, he had the Sherman Library, the hills of Naromi, and the Sherman Chamber Ensemble. He had the Lake, the band, his friends and most of all, his family. They were all his mission. His kids were his greatest source of pride and joy.... They had his smarts, his sense of humor, his passion for music, and all good things. His family also included the kids from Andrew Glover...whose lives he touched irrecovacably, and vice versa. Wander through these pages, and see the love that we all had for Kemp. And then take a minute ro view some days of Kemp just being! As we will always remember. If you decide to keep any photos in this gallery, know that the proceeds will all go to the New Milford High School Band. Kemp would like that.
